Originally from Oklahoma, I always had an interest in writing—but when I began working on the 8th grade newspaper and yearbook team, I realized journalism was a field I wanted to pursue as a career. After earning my undergraduate degree in journalism, I served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Suriname, South America, in the Peace Corps and then taught English in South Korea. I returned to the U.S. to earn my master’s in journalism from the University of Missouri before moving to New York. I worked at various print magazines and then transitioned into digital media.
